Sometimes just talking to an unbiased third party can allow you to open up and start to work through how you feel. Talking to a therapist can help you feel less overwhelmed and give you the opportunity to formulate a plan for tackling any concerns you may have.
The cost of a therapist in NYC can vary significantly depending on the therapist’s experience and background. Therapist fees can range from $100 to over $400. At Thriving Center of Psychology, we offer therapy services for a range of budgets from $150 to $400 per session. While Thriving Center of Psychology is an out-of-network provider, we offer therapy services to suit different budgets and can provide any paperwork needed for reimbursement.
A therapist is a term used to describe a professional who is trained in providing some sort of mental health treatment. While all psychologists are therapists, not all therapists are psychologists, as it requires additional education and training to become a psychologist.
Although English is Dr. Van Hauwermeiren's first language, he is fluent in French and often conducts therapy in French.
In therapy, talking is a crucial part of the process. If you find it difficult to find the words to describe how you feel in a second language, it could stand in the way of progress. By talking in your native language, you may find it easier to talk about how you feel and connect more with your culture and background.
Language is important in therapy as it allows you and your therapist to understand one another, build trust, and establish a good therapeutic relationship. It makes it easier to communicate emotions, and being able to speak your native language can encourage you to be more open in an unfiltered way.
